Aside from Bloomingdales and Macy’s or Bergdorf and Barneys, New York has other places that are not as popular but equally impressive. These are known as the alternative shops in New York and most of them are stand-alone retail stores. This means you can’t find them in malls or shopping centers. These are the quaint, often charming slightly out-of-the-way stores that are worth visiting if only to gawk at their beautiful wares.

Boutique shopping is always a lot of fun but it can be a bit more expensive. To save on quality items, watch out for sales and special promotions. Here are some the sought-after boutique stores in New York:

Cire Trudon
This is a store found on Bond Street in East Village. It is French-inspired candles with incredible, sensual scents that will blow you away. If you prefer perfumes and fragrances, the West Village has Aedes de Venustas on Christopher Street.
The Bathroom
Truly an experience to visit, The Bathroom on Charles Street is English-styled with hundreds of international brands including Italian shaving cream foam, sleep masks from Asia, European candles, and the world famous hair care brand, Oribe luxury hair products.
Malin+Goetz products can be found in the upscale department stores of New York but visiting their stand alone retail boutique is a lovelier experience. They can be found on Chelsea and the Upper West Side where you can sample the beauty products first hand without the crowds.
Hell’s Kitchen
This isn’t the TV show but Delphinium Home on 9th Avenue. The products on display are not just kitchen items but also something unique for bathroom and bedroom. They have a distinct style of being ala-vintage but in color so it’s interesting to see how they are incorporated into interior design.
Modern Anthology
This shop is found in Jay Street in Brooklyn and has an incredible array of original furniture design one would expect to see in a New York loft. They also have clothes and accessories for the visiting traveler as well vintage items like lamps, bottle openers and darts.

New York is such a vibrant city; meetings are taking place right on the streets and corners. However, it isn’t the right way to go if you want to seal deals or negotiate better terms. Fortunately, there are great New York meeting space venues scattered throughout the city, it’s relatively easy to book one. The most important rule in booking a New York meeting space is to do it early because chances are, you won’t find one at the last minute unless your budget is sky-high.

Then and now, the most popular meeting places in New York are still the bars and restaurants. People want to be seen and to see who’s around. It’s the perfect opportunity to dress up and look important. Of course, many of the business people in New York or visiting the Big Apple generally have ground-breaking work to do because if there is any city in the US where the most deals are made, it’s right here.
New Yorkers on the other hand enjoy a round of golf while conducting meetings so it not unusual to be called to the course for signatures or contract signing. Other exciting places to book are the artsy museum where you also can find coffee shops and business offices.
If you are visiting the country and have a meeting with an American group, you should be aware of the following work protocol:

Be on time. In New York, time is always precious and people are counting seconds, not minutes. If you are going to be late, call it in and let the other party know

There is no physical contact necessary if you don’t know the person personally.

Dress code is business attire and it is considered rude to come in for a meeting in casual clothes

You will also find that small talk interspersed throughout the meeting is normal and acceptable but there is a thin line between small talk and being too chatty or personal.

Japan has been into energy drinks since the 1960s. It began with the world-famous energy drink, Lipovitan which is still being sold today. Unlike energy drinks from the western world, Asian energy drinks come in small bottles that look strangely like medicine bottles. In Japan, they are called Genki drinks and are sold at an affordable price that can easily be afforded by most in the working class.

Aside from Lipovitan, the other Genki drinks that are very popular for businessmen are the Oronamin C which can be used to create mixed drinks if combined with beer or milk. Third in the list is Yunker Kotei Eki which has Chinese herbs and caffeine. This Genki drink has several formulations for specific age groups. In fact they even have one without caffeine for children.
Chocola can be considered as an energy drink but it also has ingredients that can alleviate acne, rough skin, or oral ulcers. It contains biotin, vitamins, and caffeine. The Tiovita which is more popular with the younger crowd has taurine, carnitine, and Vitamin B. This energy drink is used by college students when they have to stay up late to study for their exams.
There is another energy drink that has joined the fray in Japan called Yunker Fanti. It is touted to be stronger than Thailand’s Red Bull drink, claiming that Red Bull will be as tame as apple juice when compared to Yunker Fanti.
This energy drink is made of secret ingredients but also herbal extracts, liquid nicotine, caffeine, taurine, and Royal Jelly. One small 50 ml bottle is sold in Japan for around US $15 or 1,700 yen. You can find it in most convenience stores and is sure to wake you up in a hurry. Those with medical conditions should think twice before taking it. Why? The nicotine content is not something you ingest generally speaking as a liquid. It is inhaled when you smoke or use one of those electronic cigarettes. It should be taken with caution.

Accounting outsourcing Japan companies are well known for being exact and timely. The Japanese culture is such that honor above all is a highly regarded outlook. They take pride in their work, whatever it may be. The Japanese personify an attitude of excellence above all unlike many other cultures that have become lazy and willing to accept less than perfect. This makes it perfect for accounting outsourcing Japan firms to step into the outsourcing industry and be competitive not just in pricing but in superior output.

The past few years has seen many economies and companies downtrodden because of poor performance and too much politics. Weighed down by so many problems, the only way a company can hope to survive is by cutting costs. This means turning to outsourcing for work that can be done elsewhere without compromising the security of data.
If one were to choose a country to outsource accounting data, it would be a country where principles are held high. One such country is Japan and everyone knows just how strict they are with themselves. It’s what brought Japan forward many years and sustained its growth through thick and thin. Just look at how the Japanese are coping with the March earthquake, tsunami, and meltdown of one of their nuclear power plant. Amazing can barely describe their resilience.
Through outsourcing, companies stand a better chance of being competitive, and it isn’t only in the field of accounting but also in legal work, sales, IT, customer relations, human resources, and basic clerical jobs. Small to medium companies say that outsourcing is the key to being able to compete on a better playing field with the big guys in their industry.
The biggest hurdle for firms interested in outsourcing to Japan would be learning to rely on another company hundreds of miles away for certain needs. One way to deal with this is to find a US firm that is tied up with an outsourcing firm in Japan or sending someone to Japan every so often to check on the work being done. Most outsourcing companies in Japan are bilingual and speak English fluently.

Taking of your customers is one of the success factors in any business. This means having a support group to handle customer relationships can either work for or against any business. One example would be a retail outlet with a sales clerk that refuses to be polite or attend to the customers. Chances are high that the people who were not serviced properly will refuse to go back to that store, even if it means traveling farther to get to the competitor’s store. That’s not all. This person or group of people can multiply exponentially if they decide to talk about their experience in the first store. Again, chances are high that some of the people who hear the story will think twice before entering that store. There is snowball effect that could a business just because on salesclerk was in a bad mood or would rather chat on the phone than do the job.

Customer relations though are not just about the front liners who have to face customers every day. It is also answering letters from disgruntled clients or problems regarding events, products, ads that could have offended someone. Just look at how banks and utility companies try to be “nice” when collecting from a customer in good standing. They are extremely polite because they need the payments to survive and maintain a healthy bottom line. Once the customer becomes a bad account, the whole façade changes and they aren’t as nice anymore.
A good tool to use to manage customer relationships is the CRM tool or Customer Relationship Management Tool. It analyzes collected data and tries to present a profile of each customer’s likes and dislikes. This information can then be stored in the company databanks for use whenever needed. Once a customer realizes that he or she is not just another face or account, they tend to have a softer demeanor towards the company and will make allowances for mistakes made, if any.

Japan accounting standards have always been of the highest level. When Japan began to be known as a to investment opportunity, their Japanese accounting standards were patterned to be acceptable under international standards of accounting. It was a good way to pave more investment into the country because foreign investors could relate to a system they were familiar with, even if the language was a problem.

In August of this year, the ASBJ or Accounting Standards Board of Japan began a process of once more updating their accounting principles to conform to the Financial Accounting Standards Board or FASB. The aim was to converge with the US standards under the US GAAP or generally accepted accounting principles. In short, it was a 3-way process between the accounting standards of the FASB, Japan, and GAAP.
This is to prepare joint projects to fall under the same accounting practices and make any investment or business dealing between the 2 countries a lot more feasible. Keep in mind that respective countries require accounting reports and having the same basis would mean preparing just one report instead of two.
In simpler terms, this means that an American can travel to Japan, look for investment or business ventures, or even a job. If he has worked in the US before, then he won’t be floundering with the accounting principles in Japan. It will be similar to what he is used although written in Japanese. Luckily, many Japanese accounting firms have recognized the need for bilingual accounting and offer this as part of their services.

The characteristics of a good leader has been discussed time and again, and yet we still have not been able to pinpoint why some leaders work well as a dictator and why others are more effective as a paternal type of leader.

The answer of what makes a good leader lies in the followers. If there are followers who like to be heard, then they would appreciate the following traits:

Someone who is approachable

Someone who listens

Someone who asks questions and takes the time to wait for the answer

Patience with an open door policy

Others prefer to be followers, literally. They don’t want to think or be trained to think, and they don’t appreciate being asked to give suggestions. They’re happy to be told what to do and how to do it. These kinds of followers would appreciate a leader with the following characteristics:

Dominant force

Someone who considers all angles before making a decision but not necessarily asking for suggestions or opinions

Forceful and rarely makes mistakes because he or she is logical, rarely emotional

In short, a good leader is one who is able to find the right kind of workers or followers. He must also be willing to pay the price for independent thinkers or dependent followers.

However, whether he is a dictator-style or otherwise, there are characteristics common to both types. These are:

Excellent communicator and strategist

Knowledgeable and skilled

Accepts personal strengths and weaknesses

Willing to nurture and be mentor to a possible successor

Capable of making decisions under pressure

Brimming with ambition, determination and focus

Good enough is never good enough

The leadership style then is something that workers have to look at when applying for a position in a company. It’s important to decide whether or not you can work under this kind of environment, and if you will be happy. The salary or even the job will not be enough eventually, and if you can’t find the kind of leader you feel you deserve to work with, then you should consider starting your own business.

Inserting data in excel can be easier if users consider using the available short cuts. The best way to apply these shortcuts is to take a close interest on the available formula and do an excel comparison with other users. This will help in identifying better and easier ways of entering data in excel spreadsheet. Excel comparison give both old and new users a chance to seek newer and better applications. In excel data is entered continuously. Entering data in these sheets can become tiring, that’s the reason why it is imperative to find better and easier ways of entering data.

Switching between workbooks is one of the tasks that become very difficult when done manually. Using CTRL-Tab and CTRL-shift-Tab will make movement between two worksheets an easier affair. Even though some of these shortcuts bring efficiency in the course of duty, it also depends on the version of Excel model in use. Excel 2007 has better and clearer features than the Excel 2003. Simple keys like CTRL +; will make inserting current date an easy task. One will not have to manually insert the date as in most occasions.

Excel users are always in search of easier, quicker, and better ways of inserting data. Excel forums create some of the best avenues for users to learn better methods of doing the job in a better way. One of the least known and used key is CTRL-enter; this is better used when entering the same information in different cells. Upon selection use the above key to enter the required detail in the selected cells. You will be amazed at how easy and effective data entry will be.

For those who prefer to pasting information from one cell to the other, consider using CTRL-Alt-v then press enter. This is the best way to paste information from one cell into another easily. There are other ways of pasting, which is why comparison is necessary in considering what works better for ones immediate need. It does not matter which operating systems you are using, OS like Linux, Windows, Mac and the rest have available provisions for excel shortcut keys that help in making the operation an easier affair.

Steve Jobs, a co-founder of Apple and former CEO is a man who has definitely led by example all throughout. He did not spend time on self-pity having been an adopted child while his biological parents were still living; he moved on and made a name for himself. Leadership examples for him came from the Beatles, whom he referred to many times as his source of inspiration. Steve Jobs leadership examples dates back 30 years ago, and still remains a beacon of hope for employees who care to live with such leadership traits all their working lives.

The efforts put in Apples OS cannot be slighted. If it was not a properly guided leadership team, Apple would not be where they are today. Apple is the only computer software companies that use their own hardware and software programs. Apple is one of the OS that has remained difficult to hack, there has a few been incidences, but they remain one of the most stable OS of the 21st century. That cannot be refuted! They have travelled one of the most difficult roads to make it to the top.
Apple products can test to be some of the best the market has ever hard. With products like iPod, iPhone, iPad, Macintosh amongst many others, technology can never remain the same. If they were not leading by example, Apple would not be where they are both in the technology world and in the stock market. The efforts and innovative spirit put in lifting Apple to its current status is incredible. This can be attributed to the former CEO’s relentless efforts in motivation, and the desire to step down from the helm and give somebody else a chance to lead.
Many world leaders do not have the attributes of true leadership. True leadership requires putting the organizations interest at the top. This coupled with the desire to responsibly work as a team is true leadership. The principle established by the former CEO of Apple, his team, and co-founders in treating both their employees and customers with respect; will go along way in filling the vacuum left at Apple. A leader must definitely lead by example.

Why is payroll computation so complicated? For a start-up business, there are just so many factors to consider about payroll alone, it’s really a good idea to consider payroll outsourcing services in Japan. What payroll outsourcing services in Japan can accomplish for you is provide you with more time on other aspects of running a business like promotions, sales, marketing, and other needs of your employees and clients.

Some of the features to look for in any company offering you payroll services are:

Tax Computation

This is one of the complicated procedures in managing payroll. Not all employees will have the same tax computation because income tax is based on the range and situation of each employee. A single person won’t have dependents, and thus does not qualify for tax credits for having dependents. The income range also changes the tax structure of an employee. Plus, there is a lot of paperwork requirements needed to be completed and submitted on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

An accounting firm that speaks English and has knowledge of the international standards in accounting procedures will be able to step in and assume the responsibility within days.

Online Payroll

Being able to offer this service or set it up for you so that all you need to do is plug in the data is important. An efficient payroll service should also be able to make the necessary adjustments for advances, credit, and the like so that no over or underpayments are made.

Reporting Requirements

This is more about the payroll service being able to submit a completion report so that you can track down its work and determine whether or not the cost of hiring them makes sense. In other words, you should never be kept in the dark about how much money you are saving with their help, and any changes in the set-up should be included in the report as well.

In addition to these, there are other features of a payroll service that should be part of the package.

Timely delivery

The biggest headache you will ever get would be angry employees who don’t get their salaries on time. Far better for it to be a day earlier instead of an minute late. With a Japanese payroll outsourcing service, their attention to detail is legendary. They do not leave work to the last minute and take pride in being able to submit on time and without error.
